Video Reporting

“First In The Nation: Super PACs and the Granite State”

  • Produced for American Observer, the independent online newsmagazine of American University’s School of Communication (published April 18, 2012).
  • 6-minute investigative story shot in New Hampshire during the 2012 Republican Presidential primary, examining the influence of Super PACs on the political landscape.
  • Received second place in the “Best Political Communication Project” category at AU’s 2012 Public Communication Awards.
  • Edited and mastered in Final Cut Pro 7, distilling 12 hours of footage into slightly under 6 minutes.

“Journalist Kevin Sites talks conflict, recovery, and storytelling”

  • Produced for Half The Battle, an award-winning American University journalism project from spring 2013 chronicling the struggles of returning millennial veterans. I served as webmaster and copy edit chief for the project.
  • Edited and mastered in Final Cut Pro 7.

 “Turn Out The Lights”

  • Produced in Fall 2011, and focused on events surrounding the closing of my 70-year-old high school in Wellesley, Mass.
  • Edited and mastered in Final Cut Pro 7.

Web Design/Coding/CMS

  • I am familiar with HTML, CSS, and Adobe Dreamweaver. I have worked with several different content managements systems over my time as a journalist—including Zope, WordPress, Blogger, and several different custom CMSs. I also manage this website through WordPress and Bluehost, with HTML tweaks here and there.
  • I have helped with coding, beta-testing, designing, editing, and tweaking of two professional news websites: Current and Half The Battle.
